Sarees hold the same value as jewelry in a women's collection of clothing. By taking proper care and giving attention, Sarees and other items made with different types of yarn can be kept in good condition for a long time without losing their shine or quality. With proper care and attention, Sarees and products with yarns of other construction can be preserved for ages without losing its lustre or freshness. Follow the directions below carefully and your Saree would last longer with the same sheen as a new one!

  • DO's

    - Dry Clean Only
    - Only pre-washed silk is washable. Read the label!
    - Store Saree in a cool, dry place.
    - Routine Re-folding to avoid ripping on creases.
    - Store the saree in a light cotton muslin cloth. This will give the saree breathing space and will prevent one saree from sticking to another when kept in a pile.
    - For long-time storage, sarees should be sealed against light, air and insects, storing the sarees rolled on a cardboard/ stain-less steel/ PVC pipes will prevent creases and hence also prevent the sarees from getting cut.
    - Use silica gel sachet or moisture absorbents in the wardrobes/ Almera's which is used for storing the sarees
    - It Is Preferable To Keep Them Enclosed And Out Of Direct Sunshine. Sunlight Deteriorates The Fabric And Causes The Colors To Fade.
    - Gently iron them at low temperature. Iron rapidly and do not leave the iron in one place for too long.
    - While ironing, keep the iron in medium or low heat.
    - In case the saree gets stained, immediately wipe the stain off with cold water
    - For hard stains, get the Sari Dry Cleaned.
    - Once you have worn the saree, hang it in a shaded area to air out and remove any sweat or odor.
    - Air the textiles every few months.
    - Kindly Spray perfume at least from 1 feet away.
    - It is recommended to iron the saree between two pieces of white cloth. It is not recommended to wet the saree prior to ironing or to use a steam iron.

  • DONT's

    - Avoid Direct Sunlight.
    - Never Machine-wash sarees
    - Do not brush or lash a Silk Saree. This would lead to tearing of the silk or zari
    - Do not wash the sarees with harsh detergent
    - Don’t store the saree in a plastic cover as this will cause the gold Zari to turn black.
    - Chlorine bleach should never be used on silk, as it damages the silk as well as the sarees and causes it to turn yellow/pale.
    - Avoid hanging the garments for a long time as they tend to lose their shape.
    - Do not store silk without dry cleaning
    - Never hang a silk saree to dry in direct sunlight as doing so will cause the color to fade
    - Avoid spraying perfume directly on the garment.
    - Do not spray perfume directly on the saree and on the Zari as it may react with the perfume compositions which may lead to fading or tarnish.
    - Do not directly iron the sarees as it will burn the fabric.
